Good Day Everyone.
We had a busy, but very good weekend at Hillcrest.
On Saturday, we hosted a Memorial Service for Theresa Headland, Anthony’s mother. It was a very nice service. Following the Service, several from our congregation assisted with the coordination of food for a reception for friends and family. I was so pleased to hear about all that our church was able to give to this family in this difficult time. Thank you Hillcrest, you stepped up and served well.
On Sunday morning, we gathered for worship and it was great to be together. We began a series of sermons on the Qualities of a Missional Leader. Next week, we will explore our first quality, Resurrection Confidence.
Sunday Afternoon was our opportunity to serve the meal at OneMeal in Downtown Mobile. In less than 30 minutes we served over 200 plates of Fried Chicken, Potato Salad, Beans and Bread. We also gave away chips, dessert and water. There is no telling how many bottles we gave away, but Ron’s hands were quite chilled from ice in the cooler.
Looking ahead, there are several opportinities for fellowship and faith ahead.
Tuesday, the Bible Study and Prayer group will meet at 11am, for two hours, to finish their study of Mark.
Wednesday, we will gather for Bible Study and Prayer at 6pm in the Chapel. We will work through the end of 1 Corinthians 14 and possibly the beginning of Chapter 15.
Regarding prayer concerns, please remember these:
Al – In the hospital
Corinne – Her mother died late Sunday Night
Anthony and Candace – Following the death of his mother
There are many others who are recovering, are in rehab, are traveling and/or have family needs that often go unmentioned. Please remember them as well.
Have a great week.
If our church can serve you in any way, please ask. We cannot read you mind but want to help.
Chris Aho, Pastor
